Seed Planting and Blessings

Basic materials assembled: Four clay pots, small dish with wildflower seeds, large spoon, pitcher of water.

Congregation sings the chorus 2 X. “Seed of life, arise anew.”

 

While the congregation is singing the chorus, Reader 1 steps forward, plants seeds.

 

READER 1

“Nurturing God. We pray for those we love who experience the difficulty of physical pain and illness. Cover them, cover us, as the earth covers dry seeds to comfort and protect them as we wait together. Blessed be.”

Pour a small amount of water over the planted seed, as saying the words, “Seed of Life, arise anew.”

Congregation responds, singing the chorus 2X

READER 2

“Sustaining God. Your rains water the earth, bringing life. We pray that the waters of your Spirit surround us and break down the walls of death so that new life can spring forth in relationship with you and with one another. Blessed be.”
